There will not be 80 P4 schools. When the Big 12 fizzles, there will likely be fewer than 60. The G5 schools currently earn $2 million or less for their media rights. Getting to 80 P4 schools means that those 15 newly promoted G5's would now receive $40,50,60? million for those same media rights. The networks won't allow it. They are not going to pay an additional half-billion-plus for rights that currently cost them pennies. This is why they deterred the Big 12 from adding two schools last year.
Symmetry among the P4 would be strictly coincidental. If Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC or the B1G, togather, the other conference would likely stay at 14. There are no other giant revenue earners.
